The union of the crowns took place in 1606 The Acts of union (as we know it) took place in 1707 King Billy (aka William 3rd of England) was born on 4th November 1650 That's nearly 50 years after the union of the crowns. He died: on the 8th March 1702, that's years before the political union was even created. Your knowledge of Scottish History is pitiful.

If you vote yes to Independence in the upcoming referendum then we will still have the 1606 union of the crowns i.e Scotland will still keep the queen, like Canada, Australia etc
