Mark Speir, who has spent much of his 21-year coaching career at the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision level, has been named head football coach at Western Carolina University. Randy Eaton, director of athletics, made the announcement Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, during a press conference held in the Ramsey Center. Chancellor David O. Belcher also shared remarks.
